What is Covered

Cyber Crime: This covers cyber incidents linked to your role as a landlord, including fraudulent fund transfers, hacking, data breaches and related response costs. It applies where the loss relates to letting a property, whether the incident involves a business or personal device, or a business or personal account. For example: A landlord receives a fake invoice that appears to come from a genuine contractor, tradesperson or managing agent and pays it from a personal bank account after approving it on a personal phone. The email later turns out to be fraudulent and linked to a compromised account. This follows the same type of cyber crime loss shown in the case study pack.Tenant Data and Privacy: This covers legal, forensic and response costs where tenant, guarantor or applicant information is accidentally shared, lost or exposed in connection with your role as a landlord. For example: A landlord accidentally sends a spreadsheet containing tenant names, contact details, rent records or ID documents to the wrong person.Helpline Support: This gives you access to expert guidance, triage and recovery support after a cyber event, including help with containment, next steps and reporting.

What's not Covered

Unrelated Personal Cyber Activity: This does not cover cyber losses from personal activity that are not connected to letting a property or your role as a landlord. For example: A scam involving personal shopping, private banking or personal social media that has nothing to do with renting out a property.
